Somatic Psychotherapy Services

for individual adults wanting to feel more alive

Hello! I’m Caitlin. Folks who come to see me are often looking for help with:

  • experiencing more joy, connection, and presence in life

  • feeling more authentic, aligned, and self-confident

  • feeling less overwhelmed or stuck

  • wanting relief from symptoms (PTSD, anxiety, depression, burnout, etc)

  • wanting more connection in relationships

  • getting out of negative cycles that keep repeating

  • wanting to learn healthier ways to support themselves with stress

  • making sense of past trauma/childhood experiences

  • wanting to try something different or hitting a stuck point with traditional talk therapy

My Approach

My counseling approach is grounded in the importance of presence, attunement, and relationship. My intention is to create a healing environment and relationship where you feel welcomed, heard, understood, and valued.

I do not believe you need to be “fixed.” Sometimes when we’ve been through trauma, we feel fractured or “broken.” When you walk into my office, I understand and believe that you are already whole and complete, as you are. Through gentle, embodied co-regulating nervous system support, healing from complex and developmental trauma is possible. When we have a felt sense of safety in our body, we have more access to “yes” or “no.” We feel more like ourselves or we can discover ourselves for the first time. We are able to be with the inevitable joys and sorrow in life with more flow and ease. That is my hope for you.

I believe that if allowed to experience safety and less survival energy, our bodies already know how to heal themselves. When our nervous systems have experienced trauma or chronic stress, they can become stuck in survival responses, making functioning difficult.

This can look like fluctuating between overwhelm and shutdown. Seeing threat in everything to being “okay” or “fine” with everything. Feeling overwhelmed to feeling stuck and powerless. When in these survival states for longer than our bodies can handle, we can experience symptoms. When your nervous system is able to move out of survival and into a more regulated or safer place, we are working with healing the cause of your symptoms. Not just managing the symptoms.

With hundreds of hours of training and ongoing consultation in Transforming Touch® and Somatic Experiencing® (SE), I use both of these modalities to help you build nervous system capacity. This work sets the foundation for you to feel more connection with yourself, in relationships, and increases your ability to move through stressful life events with more ease and vitality. I’ve found combining Transforming Touch® and SE with talk therapy helps people achieve their goals faster than talk therapy alone.

  • Transforming Touch® is an attachment-focused, neurophysiological treatment utilizing hands-on healing for Developmental Trauma. This modality is based on the idea that when there are ruptures during early platform development, they continue to disrupt a person's life. It incorporates presence, regulation, and relationship to repair these ruptures and help people have access to greater capacity. Transforming Touch reflects the understandings of Developmental Trauma and relies on studies such as the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) study that shows the importance of intervention in someone’s life who was exposed to Developmental Trauma. Intervention can and will prevent a lifetime of disease.

  • SE is a naturalistic form of healing trauma and chronic stress that will help you learn how to settle and release physiological activation from your body.

Treatment Areas

Stress & Anxiety

In this world, chronic stress is a part of life. When stress accumulates, many people experience symptoms of burnout, anxiety, and depression, which often manifest as physical complaints. We will work together to support your nervous system with releasing bound energy and identifying resources and supports you can use in your daily life to support yourself.

Trauma Recovery

Trauma is held in the body and in parts of the brain that can’t be accessed by thinking and talking alone.

When fight and flight are not options, we freeze and immobilize. If this threat response does not complete, the energy stays in our body, causing symptoms. Many people experience severe dysregulation and dissociation because the nervous system still detects an active threat.

To support and give the nervous system an opportunity to experience a sense of more regulation, ethical and intentional hands-on co-regulating touch support (Transforming Touch®) may be offered. When regulation increases, people often feel more alive and capable of moving through their lives.

When enough regulation is present, we may use Somatic Experiencing® (SE) techniques to work through specific events. SE facilitates the completion of self-protective responses and the release of survival energy in a tolerable, titrated way.

Personal Development

Many folks experience life transitions and stressors that cause them to question who they are. Together we can identify where you’re feeling stuck and explore the parts of yourself that you want to understand more. Additionally, if you’re looking to improve overall performance and want coaching with personal goals, we will work together to identify barriers and a path to getting you where you want to be - whether that be professionally, relationally, socially, or spiritually.
